It even still lives in the wild in the French Antarctic archipelago of the Kerguelen Islands. An archipelago lost in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean more than 3000 kilometres from Reunion Island. The reindeer is used today as a domestic animal in northern Europe. Adult reindeer can reach 180 kilos and measure 1.30 meters at the withers.
