Comments : The sapwood is white, it is a dense and hard wood which has the disadvantage of splitting easily. It is him which gave its name to the trade of cabinetmaker to indicate the manufacturers of invaluable pieces of furniture even carried out in other species. It takes on a magnificent polish. 

Unique in its kind: the marbled veining is a singularity of growth coming from the sediments present in the ground during the growth of the tree. As for its cousins the ebony of macassar and Gabon, it is a hard wood with a magnificent polish.
