The giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis) is an emblematic animal of the African savannah. Renowned for its long neck, it is the largest terrestrial species in existence. Giraffes can reach heights of 5 to 6 meters, and weigh up to 2 tons. Their mottled coat, made up of brownish spots on a white background, makes them instantly recognizable. Males sometimes sport ossicone horns on their foreheads. These graceful herbivores feed mainly on the leaves of acacias and other tall trees. Despite their imposing size, giraffes are docile and peaceful, often living in loose herds, adding a magical touch to the African savannah.
