Origin: Western Europe, Asia Minor and North Africa.

Comments: Buis is a shrub from southern Europe and western Asia. It is a very hard wood, dense and homogeneous often used in shooting. It sticks and colores well and takes a very nice polish. It is suitable for engraving, tool handles, luthery accessories, rules, inlays. Its magnifiers, or dust, are sought after and valued in cutlery.
