Zebu horn and epoxy resin - French original creation: the pearly horn

PRESENTATION:

Horn, without the constraints of the animal product with organic resin. With a reduced horn in glitter in a special grinder, we add resin loaded with pearl dyes. The resin used is a BIO epoxy resin.

By working the horn, we generate a lot of unusable "by-products" for cutlery. Outside for a few years European regulations no longer allow to sell them as fertilizer. So we'll recycle them with PEARLY HORN. And in passing we return to the horn these letters of nobility.

As far as resin is concerned, of course, we respect the drastic European regulations. For this innovation we have chosen to use a BIO epoxy resin formulated in France.

Our two research axes were to obtain a material with aesthetic and mechanical qualities. The machining tests: cutting, drilling, sanding and polishing are very conclusive.

USE:

We worked on industrialization of the manufacturing process. But to get a regular result with this aspect we have to work on thin plates (up to 10 mm; impossible to make in thick block).

Colours available today: Blue, aluminum, copper, khaki, green and gold. We chose to propose, from the launch 6 colors in order to allow cutlery to dress boxes of 6 knives.

The choice of organic epoxy resin presents a difficulty: The PEARLY HORN cannot handle the dishwasher.
