INNOVATE
Every year we innovate to create. Using a precise protocol and testing procedure a production process is developed. More than 150 tests are performed each year. Some ideas never get beyond this stage (to the great regret of Pome- the one we nickname "Miss 100,000 ideas").
If the first process is satisfactory we produce a small number to evaluate how easy it will be to replicate. The small run also allows us to undertake a series of test to identify how the material behaves. Next comes industrialization, a stage during which we improve the process to make it economically viable. Even so many prototypes do not pass this stage if they are too expensive to produce. They are added to a long list of materials waiting for a day when new technologies will be available to produce them more cheaply.
When all these steps have been successfully completed then a new material is offered for sale. The innovation division is also committed to improving existing processes with two leitmotivs: working.
