The X20Cr13, known as Z20C13, is a martensitic stainless steel with a medium-high carbon content (0.1% to 1.2%) and a high chromium content (12% to 18%). The main advantage of this type of steel is its excellent hardening capability.
Another characteristic of martensitic steel is its relatively low corrosion resistance. It can be hardened and tempered, or not, depending on its intended use.
It must first be slowly heated to over 850°C, followed by rapid heating between 1150°C and 1180°C. Forging can then be carried out within a temperature range of 1100°C to 950°C.
