Rhytin: marine fossil
We offer you a limited series of exceptional pieces of this marine mammal!
Username: Steller's Rhytin
Scientific name: Hydrodamalis gigas
Nickname: Sea cow
It was a marine mammal, growing to over 8 meters and weighing up to 11 tonnes. It was part of the Dugongidae family. Unlike its cousins, the manatee and dugong, which live in warm waters, the rhytine lived in arctic waters. This species was discovered late in 1741 by a naturalist surgeon Georg Wilhelm Steller. This doctor was part of an expedition launched by the Russian Tsar to determine whether Siberia and Alaska were connected or not. In less than 27 years the species was extinct. Fishing without restraint for its fat, milk and fur. The products we offer are fossils that are found by ivory seekers in their quarry (no fishing and even less poaching).
