The Art of Resin Inclusion: Mercorne's Signature

Explore Mercorne's art of PMMA resin inclusion: unique materials for high-end knife handles, handcrafted in Lozère since 2006.
Since 2006, Mercorne has been distinguished in the art of modern marquetry, specializing in creating unique materials for mid to high-end knife handles. Located in the heart of Lozère, our workshop embodies the excellence of French craftsmanship, priding itself on providing our clients, mostly artisanal knifemakers, with exceptionally high-quality products.
At Mercorne, we have perfected the art of inclusion in PMMA resin, also known as acrylic glass. This technique allows us to encapsulate a variety of objects, ranging from colorful fabrics, delicate feathers, to gold leaves and even personalized items provided by our clients, such as animal fur or comic book pages. This customization offers a unique touch to each piece, turning every knife handle not just into a tool but a work of art.
The quality of our PMMA resin, sourced in France and specially formulated for Mercorne, is at the heart of our know-how. Its crystal-clear transparency, comparable to that of glass, its resistance to yellowing over time, and its dishwasher safety make it an ideal material for high-end kitchen knives and other demanding applications.
Each inclusion plate is meticulously handcrafted in our workshop. This artisanal approach allows for not only extensive customization based on the handle templates provided by our clients but also ensures impeccable quality. Indeed, thanks to the use of our autoclaves, which reach more than 10 bars of pressure, we eliminate all bubbles, thus guaranteeing the perfection of each piece.
In a recent video shot in our workshop, Thibault, a prominent member of our team, reveals the meticulous process behind the fabrication of our PMMA resin plates. Through his explanations and the captivating images of our operators at work, this video illustrates our commitment to excellence and innovation.
Mercorne is not just synonymous with quality in the world of cutlery. Our products also find their place in the fashion world, decoration, and many other fields where elegance and durability are required.
We invite all craft enthusiasts, professionals looking for exceptional materials, and the curious to discover our permanent range or contact us for a bespoke project. At Mercorne, every collaboration is an opportunity to push the boundaries of creativity and artisanal quality.
