For wooden knife handles, we recommend the use of fraying cotton, such as CRE ecru fine. This type of cotton is soft and fluffy, allowing the surface of the wood to be polished without scratching or damaging its surface. Using a gentle, circular polishing technique, fraying cotton can be used to achieve a shiny effect on wooden knife handles. Use our ECLINOX WOOD polishing paste for perfect results.

For horn knife handles, we recommend using a firm cotton, such as MB. Firm cotton is more abrasive than fraying cotton, removing imperfections and scratches on the horn surface. Polishing with firm cotton gives an even, shiny finish to horn knife handles. Use our gloss paste Bleu F2 and or ECLINOX BLANCHE.

For resin-based knife handles, we recommend using a cotton that is not too soft, such as MB 215. Resin is a hard, dense material, so it's important to use a cotton that's not too soft, in order to achieve an even, shiny result. Soft cotton helps to eliminate scratches and imperfections on the resin surface, while creating an even gloss effect.  For best results, use our BRIL 795 polishing paste.

In summary, the choice of cotton type is crucial to achieving an aesthetically pleasing, high-quality end result when polishing knife handles. For wooden handles, fraying cotton is recommended for a shiny effect. For horn handles, firm cotton is recommended to eliminate imperfections and achieve a uniform result. For resin-based handles, soft cotton is recommended for an even shine. By using the right polishing technique with the right type of cotton, it is possible to create aesthetically beautiful knife handles.
