One-offs and stock products on Mercorne.co.uk: how it works

On Mercorne.co.uk, not all products work in the same way. Some are one-offs - you buy exactly what you see. Others are stock products - you receive an item representative of a series.

Understanding this distinction before you order will help you avoid unpleasant surprises and choose the right product for your project.

Unique pieces: what you see is what you get

Each unique piece is photographed individually. The photo on the site represents exactly the item you're about to receive - with its nuances of color, its veins, its particularities. No similar models, no approximations.

This is particularly important for noble materials: a magnifying glass, a fragment of mammoth ivory, a worked horn. These pieces are never really alike. What you select, you receive.

Once sold, the piece disappears from the site. It's unique - in the strictest sense of the word.

On our site, unique pieces are identified by a star in the top right-hand corner of the product

Stock products: a homogeneous series with natural variations

Products identified as "stock" correspond to a selection of similar items. The photo illustrates a model representative of the series. The item you receive belongs to the same set - same general characteristics - but may present slight variations in color, grain or texture, inherent to the nature of the materials.

This is the ideal formula for ordering several similar items, or for projects requiring a certain consistency between pieces.

How to choose between the two?

Choose a unique piece if the singular character of the material is important to your project - a magnifying glass with a particular figure, a horn with an irreplaceable pattern, a piece that you already know will be the centerpiece of a knife.

Choose a stock product if you need several similar examples, or if availability in quantity takes precedence over uniqueness.

In a nutshell

Single piece: individual photo, you get exactly what's shown, quantity 1.

Stock item: representative photo, article similar to the model, natural variations possible, several copies available.

In both cases, the distinction is clearly indicated on each product sheet Mercorne.fr.

Have a nice day.
