Blesbock horn | Knife handle | Mercorne

Blesbock horn (Damaliscus pygargus phillipsi) is a natural material appreciated by cutlery makers for its processing qualities and distinctive aesthetics. Derived from this South African antelope, the horn comes in a warm brown with a dark tip, with a slightly translucent surface that reveals its nuances in the light. Composed of keratin, it can be softened with heat - hot water, oil or a gentle flame - allowing it to be shaped, flattened or bent to create anatomical handles or custom-made plates.

At Mercorne, blesbock horns are selected piece by piece for their regularity and structural integrity. Our catalog offers raw sections, inserts and semi-finished handles, all cut in our workshop in France. With 55 references available, you'll find the right part for your project - from folding knives to fixed hunting knives. Any doubts about your choice? Olivier will answer you directly.
