It accepts hardening oils and finishes such as linseed oil, tung oil or natural waxes.

Machining behavior

Snake wood's high density demands sharp tools and smooth progress. The wood can splinter if machined too hard or if the blades are dull. It sands well following the grain, but requires care to avoid micro-tearing in areas of high stain density. Bonding is excellent with two-component epoxy adhesives.
