Cellulose acetate is a naturally derived material made from plant cellulose, prized by cutlers for its transparency, rich patterns, and ease of use. Its sheets, available in a variety of colors—tortoiseshell, mother-of-pearl, translucent, or marbled—create elegant finishes on table knives, pocket knives, or collectible pocket knives. Thermoplastic and lightweight, it is easily worked with a saw, file, and sandpaper.
At Mercorne, each sheet of cellulose acetate is selected for the quality of its patterns and the consistency of its thickness. Cut in our workshop in France for 34 years, our materials guarantee consistency with every order. Olivier is available to advise you on choosing the right pattern or thickness for your project.
