Springbok horn | Handcrafted knife handles | Mercorne

Springbok horn (Antidorcas marsupialis) is one of the most sought-after materials for handcrafted knife handles. Native to southern Africa, springbok horn is distinguished by its golden-brown color with black streaks and smoky hues, forming natural patterns that are unique to each piece. Its moderate density, solidity and even machining behaviour make it a material appreciated by beginners and experienced cutlers alike.

At Mercorne, springbok horns have been carefully selected for 34 years for the consistency of their fiber and the quality of their final appearance. Cut in our workshop in France, they are offered in different formats - whole pieces, slices, machined handles - to suit all projects. Do you need advice on the choice of shape or format? Olivier responds personally to every request.
