Woven carbon and twill carbon are two of the most popular carbon composites used in craft cutlery, for their exceptional lightness, rigidity and highly distinctive aesthetics. Woven carbon - also known as taffeta - features perpendicular interlacing of the fibers at 90°, forming a regular checkerboard pattern. Twill offers a characteristic diagonal pattern; 2×2 twill, standard in aeronautics and racing cars, interlaces every two fibers. Both types of carbon are available in classic black, colored, precious-metal-inlaid or phosphorescent versions.
At Mercorne, woven and twill carbons are selected for the quality of their resin impregnation and the homogeneity of their pattern across the entire surface. Available in wafers, bars and various sizes, they are equally suited to backsplash knife handles and integral shapes. Olivier personally advises you on the choice of pattern, color and format for your cutlery project.
