Kudu bone | Knife handle material | Mercorne

Kudu bone is a natural material of African origin much appreciated by knife makers for its balanced density, characteristic creamy-white hue and lightly textured surface. Derived from the greater kudu(Tragelaphus strepsiceros), an antelope from the savannahs of southern Africa, this bone offers a pleasant grip and accepts natural finishes as well as stabilization or dyeing. Its solid structure makes it compatible with all machining techniques commonly used in craft cutlery.

At Mercorne, kudu bones have been selected for over 34 years for their consistency and durability. Available raw, stabilized or colored according to stock, they are cut in our workshop in France to guarantee precise dimensions and consistent quality. For advice on choice or installation, Olivier will personally answer your technical questions.
