A deer antler log, also known as a “merrain,” refers to the circular section cut from the main shaft of a European deer’s antler. This part of the antler, which is dense and compact, features a spongy core surrounded by a hard outer layer ranging in color from creamy beige to amber brown. Highly prized by artisan knife makers for its natural material and authentic appearance, the deer antler log offers a unique material in which each piece is one-of-a-kind in shape, color, and grain.
At Mercorne, we have been selecting European deer antler logs in our workshop for 34 years. We offer various diameters and lengths to meet the needs of every project, whether it’s a rustic knife handle, a decorative element, or a tool handle. Not sure which log to choose? Olivier personally answers all your technical questions.
