Warthog tusk | Knife handle | Mercorne

Warthog tusk is one of the most distinctive materials in the Mercorne catalog. Derived from the African suinid Phacochoerus africanus, this tusk offers a natural ivory hue - from creamy white to slightly golden beige - with a dense grain and slightly fibrous texture that clearly distinguishes it from bone or horn. Less well known than elephant ivory but just as noble in its material, warthog tooth is prized by artisan cutlers for its natural beauty and workability.

At Mercorne, warthog tusks have been individually selected for 34 years for their grain quality and absence of major defects. Cut in our workshop in France, they arrive ready to be shaped, sanded and polished. Not sure which format or thickness to choose? Olivier will personally answer all your technical questions.
