This wood has low shock resistance and a low modulus of elasticity.
It does not bend well with steam.
Pieces with knots, though highly decorative, require very sharp tools to achieve a good finish.
It glues and stains well, and takes a polish beautifully.
Common uses:
Pencils, cigar boxes, boatbuilding, linen chests, and decorative wall panelling.
Essential oils are distilled from very fine shavings.
