The poplar fork (Populus nigra) is a piece of wood formed at the junction between the trunk and a main branch. This growth point generates mechanical stresses that deform the fibers and create absolutely unique swirling and undulating patterns, very different from the usual straight grain. Coupled with scalloping - a natural alteration of wood that creates warm hues ranging from beige to deep brown - this material offers an extraordinary character, much sought-after by cutlers in search of singular pieces.

Mercorne stabilization strengthens the heart of this naturally fragile wood: resin impregnated under vacuum and high pressure using an exclusive process. Since 2020, this odor-free recipe has provided an improved impregnation rate, making the material dense, impermeable and resistant. It takes on a remarkable high-gloss polish and is easy to machine with conventional woodworking tools.

This handle is made up of 2 matched inserts: the pattern on insert 1 corresponds exactly to that on insert 2. The price indicated is for the complete handle (2 inserts).
