The mammoth molar(Mammuthus primigenius) is an exceptional fossil material, extracted from the Siberian permafrost where it has been preserved for millennia. Its lamellar structure - alternating layers of enamel and dentine - creates a unique, graphic and instantly recognizable natural pattern on the surface.

BY RAFFIR, a Danish specialist in cutlery materials, has stabilized this fossil molar by core vacuum impregnation with a pigmented green resin. This resin penetrates deep into the fossil's strata, consolidating the material, increasing its density and creating a striking contrast between the natural layers and the chosen color. The material is easy to machine with conventional woodworking tools: band-saw cut, progressive sanding, polishing. It takes on a beautiful glossy polish that magnifies the fossil lamellar patterns. This handle is made up of 2 matched inserts: the pattern on insert 1 corresponds exactly to that on insert 2. The price indicated is for the complete handle (2 plates).
