Teflon (PTFE) sheets and washers are designed to facilitate the operation of folding knives. Placed on either side of the blade, between the blade and the handle plates, they reduce friction and promote smooth opening and closing.

Teflon, or polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), is an engineering polymer valued for its low-friction properties, low adhesion, and resistance to many chemicals. It provides a simple solution for creating low-friction contact surfaces.

Two formats are available:

• Sheets: dimensions 100 x 100 mm, available in thicknesses of 0.3 and 0.5 mm. They can be cut to make washers tailored to the dimensions of your knives.
• Washers: outer diameter 10 mm, inner diameter 4 mm, available in thicknesses of 0.3 and 0.5 mm. Sold in sets of 10, they are ready for use during assembly.

The choice of thickness depends on the knife’s design and the required spacing between the blade and the plates. Both sizes allow you to adjust the assembly to fit the available space.

Work and Assembly Tips:

To make your own washers from the sheets, use a suitable punch or a sharp cutting tool. Work on a flat surface and ensure that the cutouts are even, without burrs that could interfere with rotation.

Before assembly, clean the contact surfaces of the blade and the plates. Position the washers correctly around the knife’s axis, then gradually tighten them. Excessive tightening can compress the PTFE and impair the mechanism’s operation.

Teflon sheets and washers do not require any special polishing. Regular cleaning of the contact surfaces removes dust and any residue that may have accumulated during use.
