THE DIVERSITY OF MATERIALS AND COLORS, FROM HORN TO MAMMOTH IVORY
Mercorne first integrated natural materials, chosen for their aesthetic and/or mechanical qualities. This led to the addition of a wide range of wood species from all over the world. Then came bone, antler and mammoth ivory.
During this period of diversification, we also offered composite materials, which we purchased, but were then dependent on suppliers. We then devoted a great deal of energy to acquiring the machinery and know-how that enabled us to produce new materials. In fact, nature offers a wide range of materials and colors, some of which lack mechanical qualities or variety. By drawing on our knowledge of natural products, which we combined with the use of resins, we were able to broaden our offering.
This choice marked a real turning point for our company: before this date, we were mainly "cutters" and sellers of materials, but with this commitment we became producers and a veritable melting pot of invention and creation of materials.
This is how we entered the era of stabilized wood "made in France" ... and even "made in Lozère" (a great source of pride for us), custom inclusions of feathers or fabrics, pine needles and, most recently, real cow dung, from Aubrac of course.... And everything else we're currently working on.
