Wood from Roe Deer - Natural Material for Art Cutlery

Wood from roe Deer is not technically wood, butbone (from the annual moult of the cervid). It's a living material that's durable and extremely pleasant to hold.

The strengths of our pieces :

• Easy to work with: Can be sanded, polished and sculpted with precision for a perfect fit on the silk.

  Mercorne expert advice: To preserve the wild look of the beading while ensuring maximum longevity, we recommend stabilising the ends with resin or applying a light coat of linseed oil after fitting.

  1. Trimming: Use fine-grain abrasive belts to avoid "bleaching" the outer relief too much if you want to keep the natural brown look.

  2. Polishing: The heartwood of roe Deer can be polished to a very elegant "ivory" finish.

  3. Maintenance: Simply wipe with a soft cloth. Avoid the dishwasher (the sworn enemy of natural materials!).
