Reconstituted stone is a composite material made from 85% natural stone powder and 15% acrylic resin. Developed in the United States in the 1960s, this process stabilizes fragile minerals, homogenizes shades and produces a material with superior mechanical properties to raw stone. Its density is around 2.4 to 2.6 g/cm³, and its hardness is close to 5 to 6 on the Mohs scale. The resulting hues are vivid and deep: turquoise, ochre, black, brick red, pearly white, depending on the minerals used.

This batch of off-cuts is ideal for exploring reconstituted stone at lower cost: each piece is large enough for a handle plate, an inlay or a decorative accent. Reconstituted stone can be worked with diamond or carbide tools, sanded to 3000 grit and given a remarkable mirror polish.
