Woolly mammoth ivory(Mammuthus primigenius) is an exceptional fossil extracted from the permafrost of Siberia, tens of thousands of years old. Unlike elephant ivory, it is perfectly legal to trade, as it does not come from any protected living species.
Stabilized using Mercorne's exclusive process - resin impregnation under vacuum, an odorless recipe developed since 2006 and improved in 2020 - this handle offers increased density, excellent resistance to humidity and a remarkable mirror polish. The natural veins and cracks characteristic of fossil ivory give each piece a unique and precious appearance, much appreciated in high-end cutlery.
This handle is made up of 2 matching plates: the pattern on plate 1 corresponds exactly to that on plate 2. The price indicated is for the complete handle (2 plates). You will receive exactly the inserts photographed.
We have specialized in materials for knife handles since 1992.
