The mammoth molar(Mammuthus primigenius) is one of the most remarkable fossil materials for fine cutlery. Extracted from Siberian permafrost, it has a unique lamellar structure: alternating layers of white enamel and cream dentine create a graphic natural pattern, unique to each molar and impossible to reproduce industrially.

BY RAFFIR, a renowned Danish specialist in knife materials, has stabilized this fossil molar in a natural shade. The vacuum core impregnation process strengthens the material, homogenizes its density and makes it moisture-stable, while preserving the fossil's natural cream and ivory tones. The material is easy to machine with conventional woodworking tools: band saw, sander, file. It takes on a beautiful glossy polish that brings out all the finesse of the fossil strata. This handle is made up of 2 matching inserts: the pattern on insert 1 corresponds exactly to that on insert 2. The price quoted is for the complete handle (2 plates).
