Description

This batch of reconstituted stone off-cuts is aimed at cutlers wishing to work with an exceptional mineral material at a controlled cost. Produced by cutting high-quality slabs, each batch retains all the aesthetic and mechanical properties of the original material.

Reconstituted stone is a composite material made from natural mineral powders - marble, granite, slate or other minerals, depending on the reference - bonded with a high-performance resin. This process faithfully reproduces the visual appearance of natural stone (veining, granularity, mineral shine) while offering a more homogeneous structure than raw stone. It has a high density, a hard surface and is resistant to light scratches. Shades vary from batch to batch: neutral, cool or warm, with material effects typical of natural minerals. [À VÉRIFIER : nature exacte des minéraux composant ce lot spécifique]

In cutlery, reconstituted stone is used for handle inserts, bolsters and decorative elements. It can be cut with a diamond saw or grinder, gradually sanded down to fine grain and given a natural matte or satin polish. Its controlled density makes it a more regular material than rough natural stone, appreciated for precision work. Mercorne has been selecting and cutting these materials in its workshop in France for 34 years.

We have specialized in materials for knife handles since 1992.
