Scientific name: Cervus elaphus. The red deer is one of Europe's largest cervids. Its antler - the term used to describe its antlers - is a dense keratinized material, ranging in color from cream to golden brown, depending on the season and exposure. It comprises the cylindrical part of the antler and the webbed crown characteristic of adult deer. Its density varies between 1.6 and 1.9 g/cm³, giving it a natural resistance to shock and wear.

In cutlery, deer antler is a timeless classic for handles with a unique natural look and comfortable grip. It can be sawn, drilled and sanded easily with wood or metal tools.
