Heated beech (Fagus sylvatica) is a European species renowned for its density, fine grain and excellent machinability. The "scalded" variety refers to wood that has undergone natural alteration by fungus, creating mixed hues ranging from light beige to russet brown, with pink and orange nuances unique to each piece. These natural, impossible-to-reproduce shades are highly prized by cutlers.

The "end grain" cut consists of removing the cuttings in the transverse direction of the trunk, revealing the growth rings in section. This rare visual result, very different from a conventional cut on a slab or quarter, gives the handle a strong character and unique texture. Stabilization strengthens the core of the material, waterproofs it and enables a high-quality, high-gloss polish.

This handle is made up of 2 matched plates: the pattern on plate 1 corresponds exactly to that on plate 2. The price indicated is for the complete handle (2 inserts).
