The strikingly beautiful mammoth molar(Mammuthus primigenius) is a fossil material extracted from the Siberian permafrost, where it has been preserved for millennia. Its lamellar structure - regular alternation of enamel and dentine - creates a unique, graphic and intense natural pattern, unique to each piece.

BY RAFFIR, a renowned Danish specialist in cutlery materials, stabilizes this fossil molar by core vacuum impregnation with a pigmented red resin. The resin penetrates deep into each fossil stratum, consolidating the material, increasing its density and generating a bold chromatic contrast between the natural layers and the red hue. The material is easy to machine with conventional woodworking tools, and takes on an exceptional high-gloss polish that highlights the richness of the fossil's lamellar patterns.
