Mammoth molar(Mammuthus primigenius), extracted from the Siberian permafrost after millennia of preservation, has a striking lamellar structure: the regular alternation of enamel and dentine layers creates a graphic and unique natural pattern on each piece. An authentic fossil material, unrivalled in fine cutlery.

BY RAFFIR, the Danish specialist in knife materials, stabilizes this fossil molar by core vacuum impregnation with a pigmented yellow resin. The resin penetrates every stratum of the fossil, consolidating the material, increasing its density and creating a luminous chromatic contrast between the natural fossil layers and the bright yellow hue. The material is easy to machine with conventional woodworking tools: band saw, sander, file. It takes on a beautiful glossy polish that magnifies the fossil's lamellar patterns. This handle is made up of 2 matching inserts: the pattern on insert 1 corresponds exactly to that on insert 2. The price indicated is for the complete handle (2 plates).
