Woolly mammoth(Mammuthus primigenius) ivory pulp is the inner, honeycombed part of the fossil tusk, extracted from the permafrost of Siberia. Dating back tens of thousands of years, this prehistoric material can neither be cultivated nor reproduced: each piece is unique, marked by a spongy structure in shades of cream, beige and ivory, depending on the degree of fossilization.

BY RAFFIR stabilization is the fruit of the know-how of a leading Danish company in materials for fine cutlery, of which Mercorne is the exclusive reseller in France. The process consists of vacuum impregnation of the core with a high-performance resin, filling the fossil cells to obtain a consolidated, mechanically solid and moisture-resistant material, without altering the fossil's natural hues.

In cutlery, stabilized mammoth ivory pulp can be machined with conventional woodworking tools: it can be easily sawn, milled and sanded down to fine grain, revealing a brilliantly fine polish. This handle is composed of 2 matched inserts: the pattern on insert 1 corresponds exactly to that on insert 2. The price indicated is for the complete handle (2 plates).
