Woolly mammoth ivory(Mammuthus primigenius) is an exceptional fossil extracted from the permafrost of Siberia, tens of thousands of years old. Unlike elephant ivory, its trade is perfectly legal: it does not come from any protected living species.

This plate has been stabilized using Mercorne's exclusive process: resin impregnation under vacuum, an odorless recipe improved in 2020. The result is a denser, more homogeneous, moisture-resistant material with a remarkable mirror polish. The natural veins, cracks and textures of fossil ivory make each plate a unique piece, much sought-after by art cutlers for high-end handles or ornaments.
