Yes. The PMMA resin matrix is hydrophobic: Multin does not absorb moisture and does not warp when in contact with water. This is one of its main advantages over natural woods, including stabilized woods.

Can Multin be sanded and polished by hand?

Absolutely. Multin can be sanded progressively, from 120-grit to 1,000-grit, and then polished with standard polishing compound. It takes on a deep luster that highlights the flax fibers beneath the resin. Just avoid very aggressive, high-speed sanding discs, which would melt the resin in certain areas.

Is Multin suitable for kitchen knife handles?

Yes, this is one of its most suitable applications. Its moisture resistance, ease of cleaning, and rigidity make it an excellent material for knives that regularly come into contact with water and food acids.

What adhesive should be used to assemble Multin?

Two-component epoxy resins (type 5 or 30-minute) adhere very well to Multin. Lightly degreasing the surface with acetone before gluing further improves the bond. Cyanoacrylate adhesives can be used for fine adjustments, but epoxy is still preferable for structural assemblies.
