Zebu horn | Handcrafted knife handles | Mercorne

Zebu horn(Bos taurus indicus) has been one of the most widely used natural materials in cutlery for centuries. Native to West Africa and South Asia, it is distinguished by a palette of hues ranging from translucent yellow to deep black, through a range of warm browns and tawny shades. Its dense structure and relative lightness make it a solid choice for craft knife handles: easy to work, it responds well to cutting, sanding and polishing.

At Mercorne, zebu horn is available in several forms: cut slabs, blocks, whole horns and raw pieces. Each batch is selected for its density and uniformity of color. Our materials have been cut in our workshop in France for 34 years. Not sure which format is right for your project? Olivier will answer you personally.
