Knife spacers | Vulcanized fibers | Mercorne

The spacer is a thin layer of material slipped between the handle inserts and the tang of the blade. In quality cutlery, it fulfils a structural as well as an aesthetic role: it protects the wood or bone from moisture, strengthens the bond between the handle inserts and the blade, and adds a touch of color to the junction. Mercorne offers spacers made from vulcanized cellulose fibers - a proven, dense and easy-to-work material, available in 10 colors and 2 thicknesses.

Mercorne spacers are precision-cut in our workshop in France. They can be adapted to all handle types - wood, bone, horn, composite materials - and are suitable for both novice and experienced knifemakers. With 34 years' experience in the cutlery trade, Olivier can advise you on the right choice of color and thickness for your project.
