Dyed camel bone is one of the most sought-after materials for handle manufacture among artisan cutlers. Derived from the Camelus dromedarius, native to India, this bone has a dense fibrous structure, good shock resistance and a surface that takes pigments remarkably well. At Mercorne, coloring is carried out entirely in France, using high-quality pigments that penetrate to the core - guaranteeing a stable shade over time, even after intensive use.
Mercorne has been selecting, preparing and coloring camel bone in its French workshop since 1992. The result is a bright, multicolored material that you won't find on the market. Each board and handle is cut to order, with a technical advisor - Olivier - on hand to help you choose the shade and format best suited to your project.
