Reconstituted white mother-of-pearl | Knife handles | Mercorne

Reconstituted white mother-of-pearl is made from real mother-of-pearl shell fragments - mainly from the Pinctada margaritifera pearl oyster - ground and resin-bonded to form homogeneous slabs. It faithfully reproduces the iridescent reflections of natural mother-of-pearl, with a surface regularity particularly appreciated in craft cutlery. Its predictable machining behavior facilitates the shaping of handle flanges and inserts, from roughing to final polishing.

At Mercorne, reconstituted white mother-of-pearl is offered in pre-cut plates and inserts, selected for the quality of their binder and the consistency of their iridescence. Our materials have been cut in our workshop in France since 1992. If you have any questions about available thicknesses or the suitability of our products for your project, Olivier will be happy to answer them personally.
