Perobá wood (Aspidosperma polyneuron) is an exotic wood from South America—primarily Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay—prized by knife makers for its warm color with shades of pinkish-yellow and its fine, even grain. Hard, stable, and dense, it is easy to work with both by machine and by hand and takes a fine polish, making it a solid choice for carved handles or carving blocks.
At Mercorne, each piece of perobá is selected for the quality of its grain and the uniformity of its color. Our wood is cut in our workshop in France to dimensions suitable for artisanal knife-making. Not sure which one to choose?
